Uniform shapes (e.g. spherical) around 10mm +/- 2mm work best. The feeder has a "rotor" wheel with pie shaped wedges that the food must fall through. The narrow width of the wedge is about 10mm and the widest width of the wedge is about 20mm. If you are using a uniform shape reward that's about 10mm wide, our testing saw approximately 1-4 rewards dispensing with an average of about 2.5. Smaller rewards may dispense more each time and larger rewards may dispense less. Non-uniform shapes (e.g. wide but thin) may dispense inconsistently due to the orientation of the shape over the rotor hole.
